"Asha," 9"x 12", oil on canvas,

10% will be donated to Heeling Hearts ACD Rescue

I am really thrilled with how Asha's portrait turned out! I actually used a couple different photos to create this piece as I wanted the gentle face from one photo to be paired with the playful ears of the other. I so enjoy painting Australian Shepherds, because their coloring is just so unique! If you are interested in having a portrait done of your precious pup, feel free to contact me!

"Degas' Dancer with Bouquets (Master Study)," 6"x 6",
oil on stretched canvas,(available on etsy)

I took a step back from this piece this past week and decided to change it a bit by adding the antique chair and I am thrilled with the end result! The soft lilac compliments the beautiful tutu the ballerina is wearing and the flowers behind her onstage just perfectly! This piece is currently available on etsy.
*Also, I thought I should mention a great Home Goods GIVEAWAY going on over at Bella Casa!

It's been awhile since I've done a study so I decided to do one of my favorites, "Windflowers," by John William Waterhouse. I'm hoping to get a better photo in the next couple of days, but I'm really happy with how this piece turned out! Available on etsy.

Now you may be wondering why this lovely lady is missing her face...well this is a portrait I've been working on for the past few weeks and it will be given as a gift, so hence it is in disguise for the time being. I still have some more work to do on it, but I'm really liking the overall vibe. Stay tuned for the grand finale!

Busy as a bee at the easel with commissions, but I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a truly, blessed Easter! :)

"But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.  He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.  Come see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him." ( Matthew 28:5-7)

"Woman in Blue Rhinestones," 6"x6",
oil on stretched canvas,(available on etsy)

I have to share something kinda funny, while painting this piece I could not stop getting the song, "Isn't She Lovely," by Stevie Wonder out of my head! It must be the rhinestone dress or perhaps her elegant pose...and I think she resembles Ashley Judd just a little. (*as a sidenote, if you've never seen the movie 'Simon Birch' in which Ashley appears, it really is a must see...a bit of a tear jerker for sure, but it's one of those movies that really touches your heart...the young actor who played Simon was just incredible, a true inspiration for us all I reckon :)
(**And THANK YOU to everyone who has entered the Flea Market Style Magazine Giveaway below & for all of the wonderful comments! I can't wait to see the Premier Issue myself! Still waiting for my copies to arrive from the editor! :)

I just found out today that this piece was accepted into the 2010 Art Show at the Dog Show in Kansas! There were over 567 entries this year! Very exciting being that this is one of my first national competitions! Stay tuned to find out what happens in a few weeks!
*Prints are available in my store of this piece :)

(Viewing Cassatt's 'Children Playing with a Dog'
6"x 6", oil on stretched canvas,
available on etsy )

This is a 6"x 6" oil painting on stretched canvas with the edges painted black
(can be hung as is, no need for framing) depicting a little girl and her Yorkie viewing
Mary Cassatt's "Children Playing with a Dog." Amazing to think that Cassatt's painting went for $6.2 million at Christie's Auction House in 2007!

(**Note: This piece is more vibrant, colorful, & detailed than what may appear! :)
